Extending its global footprint into India’s burgeoning $7 billion digital commerce market, Mirum announced that the country’s leading social media and digital agency, Social Wavelength, will be joining the network as Mirum.
Social Wavelength was acquired by J. Walter Thompson in May 2014. Its joint founders and CEOs Sanjay Mehta and Hareesh Tibrewala will continue as joint CEOs for Mirum overseeing India.
“We have traversed an exciting journey in this dynamic world of digital media, first as an independent agency – Social Wavelength – and then for the last year and a half, being a part of the J. Walter Thompson network. Now, to become Mirum in India, is to us, like the next big leap, as we join a rock-solid global, full-services digital agency team,” said Mehta and Tibrewala in a joint statement.
India is the first new market for Mirum after its initial launch in January 2015, and the region will contribute considerably to Mirum’s ability to offer integrated solutions for clients across its global network. Commenting on the announcement, Tarun Rai, CEO, J. Walter Thompson South Asia, said, “With Mirum India, we are the first and only such global digital agency network in the country. Together with the entire suite of offerings through our group companies, we’re in pole position to provide powerful, integrated solutions to our clients.”
Mirum, launched earlier this year by J. Walter Thompson, united digital agencies across North America, the Asia Pacific region, Europe, South and Central America, the Middle East and Africa, and is led by CEO Dan Khabie.
